4 books that didn’t change my life

When I thought it was all about me, I read these four books. One is about how to make meetings work, another about how to write reports. The other two are about how to be more confident. I thought that if I could improve myself, my team and my organisation would improve.

These 4 books didn’t change my life.

These four books did change my life! These books; ‘Systems thinking in the Public Sector’, ‘The New Economics’, ‘The Spirit Level’ and ‘Delusions of Gender’ teach you about the power of system and context. Their message is that we (managers and governments mainly) should ‘act on the system’ if we want to improve ourselves and our organisations for the better.

One Response to 4 books that didn’t change my life

  1. What your saying is just one of the 5 disciplines necessary to have “An Intelligent Organization.” Your comment is very simplistic even though those books you mentioned are irrelevant to ST and better yet SD. Other discipline necessary is “Personal mastery,” and therefore includes effort, etc. Another one is “tolerance”/”empathy” (very feminsist and feminine, not falic women) in the discipline of questioning our own personal “Mental Models” and another Real Dialogue.
LinkedIn doesn’t offer the HOLISTIC LANGUAGE, which is also ST, not only “thinking” but a LANGUAGE in the form of diagrams and Archetypes of Human Behavior.
Don’t you give Jung any credit for anything?
Your turn please (we cannot communicate visually so this is the way humanity has penalized us with.
